Facet joints are joints between each segment of spine located posteriorly. There are two joints between each segment. Like any other joint these joints can get arthritic and could be source of pain in any part of the neck or back,  like any other joint in the body. Facet blocks are numbing medication into the joints. It could be diagnostic and therapeutic for pain. Radiofrequency ablation could be more beneficial for long term relief.
