Sacroiliac (Sacroiliitis) Joint Pain

Sacroilitis is infalamation of the sacroiliac joint leading to pain. This can mimic low back pain and often gets treated as low back pain. A proper diagnosis is important usually with a sacroilliac block with an diagnostic injection in the joint. If such injection reduces pain then we know sacroiliac joint is the source of pain. Medications, physical therapy, therapeutic injections and rhizotomy in more resistant cases can help. If all the above treatments fail, surgical fusion should be considered.
